Story Title: Depopulate
Chapter Title: Chapter One
Genre: Crime, Drama, Suspense
Rating: PG13/T
Word Count: 1,638
Summary: Officer Trent chases the trail of Jane, head of a homicidal movement to depopulate the world.
Author's Note: I tried to make the style into a kind of short, factual, police-like style to match Officer Trent's outlook. I hope it doesn't come across as too dry! Also, if I have erred in the factual domain, please feel free to point it out.

I signed up for the second wave of the Big Bang on
pulped_fictions . I thought this meant I would be writing some stuff based off of artwork made for Big Bang...but instead, I have been stuck doing art for a piece of writing, by
poorskeleton . It's an excellent piece of writing mind you, but the art has left me going a little crazy, since I am more a writer than I'll ever be an artist. Still, I think what I've come up with so far isn't too bad.
The first image is what really inspired me to do her piece. It's when the scene's main character wakes up to find an eerie symbol in bright red painted over his wife as she lay sleeping. Unfortunately, the scanner does not fully do it justice- you lose some of the gold light coming from the window, and the red isn't as bright and vivid as it is in real life- but you get the general idea of what I was trying to do. I thought it would be dramatic and fitting of the scene to make a light, almost colorless image in colored pencil and then have red gooping down from the ceiling. It didn't end up nearly as goopy as I imagined, but I think it has the general effect I was going for.

The second image is from the same scene, later on, when he goes downstairs and finds a man waiting for him, bearing a warning. The idea for doing it with multiple materials came first when I wanted to paint the symbol on the mask in white-out, since he mentions that's what he painted it with in the story. After that, I decided I wanted to make the mask out of strips of cloth (it is strips, it's just hard to tell that here), and it escalated into a raid of the scrap cloth in my mother's sewing closet resulting in this. The lips are too feminine and there are several other things wrong with it, but for not being able to fix things due to the glue involved, I think it turned out pretty well. Also, I am quite proud of how well the scanner did with this- much better than if I had taken a picture.
( Or look under here )
That's it for now. I hope to do a few other images by my posting date in August (which is yet to be determined), but I think I've been stunningly productive for my lazy self.

Yes, folks. That's right. I've become hooked on a certain type of doll called Pullips.
I'm actually considering buying one. Well, sort of. They're really expensive (maybe not for dolls but for a cheapskate like me), so I don't know if I'd feel comfortable actually spending money on them. But hey, a girl can dream. (Plus I might have a lot of money left over after France...that's what I'm saving up for, no job there!)
I've planned out several dolls. The issue is that most of them would require me to buy other things, even though I plan to make as many clothes and accessories myself. I'm not the best with my hands, but I can always try, and I'd rather spend my time making something several times (it wouldn't use much cloth since their bodies are so much tinier than their heads). However, I cannot make wigs or eye chips. So I'd have to buy those separately (or exchange them with other dolls, if I got multiple).
( And yes, I will go into more detail than is entirely necessary. )
( ...and maybe I'll go into more detail... )
( I can't stop myself! )
Aaand...now I've wasted most of my evening on creating this post. I'm going to stop wasting my (and everyone who reads this's) time now.

I decided that it was about time my journal had a redesign, so I've picked a new layout. I'm not quite sure I'm sticking with this one, and I have another one in mind I could change it to, but that'd take too much effort and brain power to set up right now (because I'd want to theme everything after it), so at the moment I'm just going to stick with this. I'm annoyed at how the entries aren't more separate, but I suppose most journals have that...this'll take some getting used to, I guess. Expect to see new icons in the near future too.
On a side note, I've dropped the book challenge. Once again, books just haven't worked out for me. I have to work on that.

P.S. Here come the drums, here come the drums...

(Dear Princess Celestia,)
Today I've learned that the one negative thing about working at a house museum is the fact that there are cracks in the floor in some places wide enough for little slips of paper to fall through.
Once again, I have reverted back to posting at LJ while at my volunteer job. This time, I'd like to inform you all that I am a major idiot who allowed two business cards to fall through the cracks of the floor of the the old bathroom where we store all our new office supplies.
Bottom line is, I suck.
At least my boss laughed.

Today requires a Book that makes you laugh out loud.
This was hard to think of, because lots of books make me laugh out loud, but unfortunately, I don't have a very good memory.
Luckily, I managed to remember a piece of I'll Mature When I'm Dead by Dave Barry (I linked the author's Wikipedia page because the book doesn't have one).
I've basically been raised on Dave Barry because it's exactly my dad's brand of humor, so of course pieces of this book made me laugh hysterically. Most books by Dave Barry would fit this, but that one sticks out in my mind the most because I read it the most recently.

Today requires my Least favorite book.
I know I hated a bunch from school, but unfortunately I can't remember most of them. I think I'm going to have to go with GILGAMESH. It's in all caps because I say it in a really angry growly voice. I wanted to stab that guy to death.

Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases
It's a murder mystery that encompasses my bizarre sense of humor and is narrated by my favorite character from the series. It sounds like it was written in very good English despite the fact that it was actually written in Japanese (that's how good the original writing and translation are), and you only need to know a little about the series to get it (I think, not sure).
